Sorry me again...

Does this sound like thrush??? I have to go back to the dr again for more Thrush medincine, but nothing seemsto be working. I got the impression last time the dr was starting to get sceptical.

Could it just be latch??? Feeding is painful throughoout... And my nipples hurt most of the time Sad

It could be. Have a look at this.

Also, have you had your latch checked? How old is your baby?

If you look on realbabymilk.org, you may be able to find local BF support groups, who can help you work out what the problem is.

Thank you. He is 4 weeks.

I took that leaflet to the dr Smile

I've posted a lot of threads lately - sorry

Seen lactation consultant - definite shallowlatch, but improving and scabs are now nearly gone. Just can't get it quite right.

Have loads of prerequisites to thrush - 3x antibiotics, thrush throughout pregnancy, anaemia.

Think dr doesn't want to treat me for thrush much more - had to talk fast last time - and definitely not a higher dose. So trying to work out whether there is a chance it all could be down to latch - wedge shaped nipples etc.

So many symptoms could be either... vavospasm, burning, pain throughout feed. Maybe my only option will be to go without any more tablets and see if things get worse again. Don't want to go back to that pain again though.

I think it is thrush and midwife and LC also think it is - with the latch issue thrown in on top. Dr iffy about prescribing unlicenced drugs...

Don't worry. Calm down. It's only been four weeks! You're doing just great, and do not, under any circumstance worry about going to the Dr this early post-partum. You can go twice a day if you need to, that's what they are there for.

Agree that a really good BF advisor should help out a bit.

I had thrush with one of my bouts of BFing and it took at least two weeks for it to really clear up so it might be that it just hasn't had a chance to fully go away yet?

In fact, if I remember, my DH had athlete's foot at the time and the medication was the same; he had his tube on his bedside table, I had mine on mine, and between us we must have been a very sexy pair!

What is he giving you for the thrush? Is baby being treated as well?

Sorry you're having a rough time.

Thank you Smile and sorry for another thread - just want this sorted.

Ds - Daktarin gel 2x day
Me - Fluconazole - 2x 50mg? day, Daktarin cream for nipples

Just having doubts - what is it IS all latch? I have big boobs and little nipples! It's really hard to get a deep latch, have done biological nurturing, sandwiching breast, flipple etc.

Confused

Often gp's dont give a long enough prescription for it to go away completely so you will have to persist with asking. Also double check all the things that could be stopping it going away completely, eg, only use a towel once before washing, dont put dressing gown on bare boobs, washing bra's hot enough to get rid of it etc.

Try taking probiotics as well (capcules not those drink things) to give your body the best chance of fighting it off if it is thrush - they'll help prevent it coming back too.
