The "Milk Shakes" - is it just me?

I had my twin boys last Saturday night.

My milk started trickling in on Thursday, but last night about 1am, I suddenly started feeling exceptionnally cold, and shivered and shook uncontrollably for about 30 mins. Freaked my DH out! Then the sweating started, like I had a fever. One minute hot, the next freezing again. Horrid.

Milk in much more abundant supply today.

I had this a bit with my other two, but it was bad last night. I was so cold, I could barely get my breath.

Is this a normal side effect of milk coming in? I seem to remember Chris Evans ( the noted BF guru!) mentionning that his wife had the milk shakes after she had their son and so if this what he meant, its a very apt phrase.

Oh yes - you can feel fluey when your milkl comes in

Had this both times - much worse with DS who was my first

With DD had around an hour or two or shivering and feeling weird

Congrats on your twins!

Can't find any links for you smokey, but I think I can remember feeling a bit like that too for a short while.

Keep an eye on your temperature though, just in case its an infection.

Congratulations on your twins and keep going, you sound like you are doing a really good job Smile

I remember feeling a bit odd. If it keeps up I would phone the mw just in case. A friend of mine had a pp infection and her symptoms were just fluey.

Thanks all. Feel fine at the moment and no sign of an actual fever . Am just glad milk is in! But keeping an eye on it - well DH is anyway. I'm on a marathon of feeding. Thank god its a sat night and can do so in front of strictly and x factor.

I've heard of this - I think it's a hormonal thing, like the baby blues (feeling really sad around when milk comes in) but less common. You're going through a lot of hormonal changes.

i have had this shivering- shaking thing with both my DCs. usually on waking but sometimes just randomly. it lasted about 2 days and began a day or so before my milk came in. always speak to mw if you are worried tho.
