Newborn spilling milk out of mouth while feeding

My 12 day old DS is mix fed a combi of expressed b/milk and formula. He is doing well weight-wise but he spills a huge amount out of the corner of his mouth while feeding. Is this to be expected, or should we try a slow teat, I wonder if he's getting too much at the moment??

I had a very fast letdown and dribbling milk was one way that DD was able to control what she was taking in. If you're unable to nurse then I would recommend Tommy Tippee Closer to Nature bottles as I believe the teat is the closest yet to mimicking breast flow. That's what we use when K has EBM

My first had to have bottles at the very beginning and I think the slow teat was best for her when they are that little so I'd give that a go.

Thanks folks, we're using the TT bottles but with the variflo teats at the moment. Have ordered some slow teats, which hopefully will help.
