If I defrost frozen bm under the tap, can I then place in fridge for my dh to then reheat for a night feed? Am confused.

I don't think you can. No doubt somebody will be along w a link soon, but I know that when DD was in nnu after milk had been heated under the tap once it had to be used or binned.

defrosted bm should be used within 24 hours so as long as you are just defrosting and not heating the milk during the process then it should be ok for a night feed.

milk storage

if you've defrosted under hot water, then use within four hours. It it's in this window you're OK to heat once and use.

My dd takes it straight from the fridge with no complaints. Worth trying as so much less hassle.

agree with molly, we had an intermediate stage of leaving a bottle at room temp for a few hours (then we progressed to straight from the fridge)

Ok ladies. Thanks for posting. Dd is a little diva already and likes it the hotter side of warm!!!

If i expressed milk and stored it in the fridge can i really keep it for 8days?

ClimberChick · 02/11/2010 01:14

yep (provided it's in a stable cold part of the fridge), just give the sniff test. If it's off, it smells just as rank as sour cows milk (I forgot to take it out bag once).

I think most people operate for a 5 days policy to give some margin for error.
