Dr prescribed me Daktarin gel not cream for nipple thrush

If you have been given the cream would you please tell me exactly what it is so I can go back and ask for it? I'm guessing he went with the gel as I'm breast feeding.

I've since read the Breastfeeding Networks handout saying the gel does not work as well as the cream on the skin (as it is for oral thrush). I called the pharmacy and the over the counter one is a different substance, not miconozole.

Thanks in advance

Thinking your Doc made a mistake, the gel is for oral use unless he wanted to ensure "baby" is protected.

Gel is for the baby's mouth - if you need to apply to your nipples you need Canestan (clotrimazole I think?).

Are you treating your baby too? When we had thrush I would put daktarin gel on my nipples before a feed so ds got it in his mouth as he fed, then smeared a little more in his mouth after the feed. Then, I applied canestan cream to my nipples.
