Moving from EBF to formula

Hi all

I have EBF DS for the first 3 months and now want to start the process of moving to formula. Firstly, which feeds would you recommend moving to bottle first? DS usually feeds every 2 hours or so - maybe try the first feed of the day with bottle then gradually do all feeds?

Also how on earth do I make the bottle?? The instructions say to boil kettle, let it cool to 40 degrees then make bottle. But how do I know when it is 40 degrees and do I just let DS scream whilst water is cooling?? It seems so difficult Confused

Where are you? All UK formula says that it should be cooled to around 70C because the powder is not sterile so mixing powder with 40c water would not kill of any bugs in the powder.

I have always done bedtime feed at 10pm first as I have always had lower milk in the evenings, the next 2 feeds I changed where the 10am one and the 2.30pm one as I was going back to work.

BTW I find formula much more difficult and annoying than BFing - why do you want to switch over?

WRT to bottle preparation I either make them up in advance and put in fridge until he is hungry or I made up as follows eg for 6oz bottle:

Boil kettle. Add boiled water (2.5oz) to bottle along with some previously boiled and cooled water (about 0.5oz) to make it 70c. Add powder (6 scoops) shake and then add 3oz more cool water. Bottle now perfect temperature for drinking.

I'm in Belgium and will use Nan formula (Nestle). The instructions on the box say boiled water cooled to 40 degrees but the NHS guidance says 70 degrees...not sure what to do?
