My boobs are lumpy - help!

baby is 6 wks old. Things were settling down with engorgement. He's feeding grand and has piled on the weight. Tends to comfort suck lots. Has reflux. I have introduced dummy and cut out lactose but early days with that.

Only thing I've done differently is express. Only 3 ounces or so about 4 or 5 times. I think my 'breast compression' to aid this might be at the root of this lumpiness. Was more of a ham fisted squeeze to make milk come out faster tbh. Used electric pump.

So what's my best way out of this now? Don't feel unwell and obv want to avoid mastitis. Have tried to get ds to feed as much as poss on both sides to clear to lumpiness. Felt better but now after after couple of hours getting lumpy again. Have got a small finger nail size patch of redness on one breast

He's asleep now. If I pump will I not make this worse and encourage more supply? Help v much appreciated

Warm shower

Comb your boobs with a wide toothed comb

Gently express under the water to relieve it a bit but not too much

Just to mention, even if you stop having lactose from cows milk, your breast milk will still be full of lactose as it is the main sugar in all milks! It is actually very, very uncommon for the human infant to be lactose intolerant given it is a constituent part of breastmilk.

What is more common is that the baby is intolerant to cows milk protein, and this can make some babies very refluxy. So some women choose to cut dairy from their diet.
