Self Weaning or Nursing Strike - 15 1/2m DS2 refusing morning feed

....for the last 4 mornings. I was planning to stop BF but now that this has happened hormones/sadness has kicked in and I am gutted.

I have kept bringing him to the breast throughout the day since Tuesday and he flatly refuses to feed. Nothing has changed in our habits etc though I do think his molars are coming in. Saying that, I have noticed over the last couple weeks the latch felt different, almost like he was losing the correct way to do. DS2 has no dummies or bottles so there is no nipple confusion issues.

Is this a nursing strike or just "the end".

I haven't expressed either so guess my milk is drying up anyway. Is there any point trying to BF for a few more days (I figure a week is as long as I would go before I figure this part of my mothering is over).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I am on the verge of tears.....15 1/2 months and suddenly it seems so little time. Sad

Sudden refusal is a nursing strike. From what I've read molars coming through sometimes has that effect. Change in latch more likely down to teeth too.

If you want to stop now would probably be an 'easy' time to do it. ('Easy' obviously speaking relatively, I know it's hard for you.) If you don't want to end it like this, you may wish to pump once or twice in the morning for the time being.

I've pumped a couple times now (more to relieve the soreness) but it is now Day 5 and he just runs away when I even lift my top!

I have cuddled him with an exposed breast hoping he would want to latch but nothing.
