ebf and with allergies?!

My 7wk old DD is extremely snuffly at night. To the point that she wakes up because she can't breathe through her nose. To me it sounds awful and she has always been a bit snuffly but now I am wondering if it is more than the general, common new born small nostril snuffle. The doctor listened yesterday and said it's not on her chest and so could be allergy linked.

To help her I use saline drops and I have tried the snot squeezy thing but it doesn't do much as she doesn't have it coming out of her nose (sorry) like a toddler and the blood curdling scream is more than I can handle!

We have tried tilting the moses basket to see if that helps but should I get rid of all the feather pillows in the house or even do some housework! Anyone have any experience of this?

I'm no expert (still pg!) but have some experience of allergies and intolerances. One thing that springs to mind is that it could be food related - dairy allergy/intolerance in adults can cause the sniffles. Also, I'd be wary of removing all allergens from her environment as babies need exposure so their immune system can work out what's normal and not a danger. Very sterile, allergen free households can actually end up leading to more allergies in kids as their immune system gets nothing to try out on when they're little.

Are you telling me not to do housework? OK good! At 3 am when she is really loudly snuffling I start to feel really guilty at my slovenly housekeeping - but perhaps they are not linked.

Thanks Japhrimel - I don't have any allergies or intolerences ( is that a word) but DP is a right sneezer and so she may have inherited his snuffles as well as his massive feet.
