Lovely BF experience

I just wanted to share my lovely BF experience yesterday. I was in M&S with my mum when DD decided she was ravenous, so I fed her while mum tried on boots. A lady stormed up to me, said "Excuse me. Excuse me..." - I wondered what was coming next - "Good on you. Good for you!" and stormed back off! I was just so pleased!

lovely! I had one yesterday too - we were having lunch in a cafe and I was feeding him, a lady walked past on the way back from the loo and said "that's a lovely sight to see" :) Made my day :)

How fabulous! I've often wondered whether I've made breastfeeding Mums self-conscious when they catch me watching (I think it's wonderful!) - maybe I should be forthright too.

Although it does make me a little bit sad that a BFing mum is worthy of comment at all - wish it could be common enought that it's just a normal part of life.

Well, I know people just do it to be encouraging and I'm not complaining as it's certainly better than the opposite!

That's so ace! I feel like there should be a secret 'good for you!' bfing thumbs up. I was feeding DS in the dog run this morning for aaages (and then held him still cos he'd finally fallen asleep, thank maud) and one man gave me a huge smile. It is sad in a way that it's worthy of comment, but while BFers are in such a minority, it's nice to hear about such supportive comments.

I did grin at the 'storming' lady. I could absolutely imagine my older sister doing something like this. [hgrin]

Was feeding DS at the bus stop earlier, and two lads walked past. First didn't know quite where to look, and muttered something to his friend, to which his friend replied, "That's what they're for dude. If you don't like it, dont look", and then restarted the conversation about skateboards they'd been having Grin

I always want to congratulate breastfeeding mums but never do, maybe I should!

Lovely, I agree. Smile Smile Smile

Once when DS was small and pissed off, I was in a queue in a shop while he grizzled. A woman came over to me and said "when mine got like that I'd shove a boob their way". When I told her that's what I was about to do she clutched my arm and said "well done you for breastfeeding!". Which was an odd but nice exchange to have with a total stranger.

Not quite a secret sign/thumbs up, but I saw these cards online.

They made me smile - I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to give anyone one though. They'd probably think I was very odd :o

We had a lovely experience last month. I was in M&S cafe and a staff member came up to us and sat down and chatted about breastfeeding. She then brought me a glass of water with ice Smile. I keep saying that I am going to write to M&S and tell them how helpful the staff member was.

When my DD was really small I was in costa coffee. My DD was screaming and I was starting to sweat and get all flustered. I couldnt find any discreet seats so just had to sit in the middle of the cafe. Of course everyone was looking at my DD screaming saying how lovely she was Confused. It was all so new to us and positioning was still a bit difficult...anyway there was an older couple next to me and I felt so awkward...however, the man asked if I would like help to open my juice and then started to chat to me about how wonderful breasteeding was. Turns out his wife had breastfed 30 years ago and they chatted to me about their experiences. Made me relax and put a great bigv Smile on my face.

cool! I also had a random old lady congratulate me on feeding my 8wo in a cafe on Wednesday; she then turned to my MIL and said "you don't see enough of it around, do you?"

Ironically, my MIL formula-fed all three of hers and I've noticed that FIL never looks directly at me while I'm feeding baby, but they smiled and nodded nonetheless!
