I admit I thought it was a joke.

It is not.

nope.

SoloBlackWidowSpidersWebSite · 20/10/2010 23:33

They'll have a slip on pregnant belly for toddlers soon Hmm

gaelicsheep · 20/10/2010 23:33

Erm, I don't think I'm supposed to mind that. But I do. Something wrong with it somehow when a little girl doesn't even have real boobs yet. I don't like baby dolls with bottles either though. Confused

PlasticinePolly · 20/10/2010 23:39

Meh. Doesn't offend me. Well the name does "baby glutton" WTF?

But the actually doll doesn't.

winnybella · 20/10/2010 23:42

I don't see anything wrong with it, tbh.
It's not sexualising little girls, like padded bikinis are, for example.

AnnieLoBOOseder · 20/10/2010 23:45

OK..... I'm all for bf-ing, but I don't like the doll. Or more, I don't like the whole putting on a special top so the doll can nurse from flowers!

When I was BFing DD2, DD1 just stuck her dolls up her top and 'fed' them. And when DD2 moved to bottles at 15 months, they both started to use toy bottles to feed their dolls.

I think this doll idea is backwards. BFing needs to be made more normalised, so that special dolls aren't needed. Little girls should just stick any old doll up their tops to feed them just as often as they give them a bottle, and for both options to be equally normal.

PumpkinsandPotPourri · 20/10/2010 23:49

Why does there need to be a specific design? My kids (girls and boys!) manage very well to imitate me and breastfeed their dolls/teddies etc - one mouth to one nipple/general tummy area - job done!

ayjayjay · 21/10/2010 06:21

I don't really mind this doll. True, children could just use a normal doll but there are an awful lot of children who will have never seen anyone breastfeeding so wouldn't know how to minic this.

I don't think this is any worse than the myriad of dolls which come with a bottle to allow a child to feed the baby.

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 21/10/2010 08:08

Yep, love bf but no need for special doll. Cash in.

SpecterBooAlot · 21/10/2010 09:23

Think the top is slightly odd and don't like the name, but haven't got a problem with the doll itself. Am vaguely entertained that this can be construed as sexualising young girls when padded bikini tops / high heels / mini skirts are seen as perfectly acceptable.

nubbins · 21/10/2010 09:53

I think it's a little odd. but i prefer it to the baby born collection which includes horseriding! It's also preferable to the large my little pony that wiggles it's frilly skirt when dancing. I don't really see it as a problem.

Though, my todddler manages to feed all sorts of toys and has even had a go with her little brother too.

ImGideonsMumAndIHateHimToo · 21/10/2010 10:00

What pumpkins said- though ds4 has been breastfeeding his dinosaur, I think we have to do some work tehre Wink

I wouldn;t give a bottle witha doll for certain but a baby doll is a baby doll; nothing else special is needed surely?

japhrimel · 21/10/2010 11:31

Well I suppose it's an alternative to the dolls that "take" a bottle. Hmm

I can't see non-breastfeeding-positive Mums buying this though so it is a bit preaching to the converted / cashing in. If I kid already knows that breastfeeding is normal & natural then they'll imitate this without a special doll.

muslimah28 · 21/10/2010 23:03

haven't read the whole article- but did get as far as reading that it comes complete with cracked nipples!!! (OK, cracked 'flowers' Confused)
