I have given my 2 week old a bottle of EBM this evening at 8pm he had 40 mls and guzzled in down. then he started rooting and breastfed for 15 mins. he has since been quite unsettled and stretching his legs out and crying when most other nights he has gone down to sleep quite easily.

i am now really worried that i have overfed my baby and that he is now struggling to digest his two dinners.

any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. what does it mean when a baby stretches out its legs in pain?

No - ime if you overfeed a bf baby then they are sick. A lot.

The way they sleep and their unsettledness/settledness changes all the time at this stage. In fact after about 2 weeks both of mine 'woke up' a bit and started to be a lot harder work.

2 weeks old - could it be the start of his growth spurt?

Sounds like colic, ds had awful awful colic and it starts at two weeks usually. You can't overfeed a bf baby. I suggest you try infacol and gripe water to start, do not worry about overfeeding, it's comfort.
You can also try easing their legs up and down and rubbing thier tummy in a clockwise rotation. A bath helps, holding in the tigger hold, a sling, white noise and definately let them comfort feed if they can.

IME if given EBM then my LO can take too much/a lot more than normal. If feeding directly then no worries. See if he does it with other just BF meals.

Is it possible that he took too much air in with the bottle and this technique needs to be looked at. Maybe he needs frequent winding during the feed.

Though thinking about it 40mils isn't a lot. Sorry I don't know my ml's but between 1-3oz is normal (.....erm 30-100ml), so it's perfectly conceivable that he would still be hungry afterwards. If he had taken 5 oz, then it would be unusual to still be hungry.

I do remember my LO got windier as she got older, which then started to recede again around 3 months, so could just be his natural progression (sorry if it is). I remember her crying after feeding and feeling like I was poisoning her. Just try not to take it personally. There's loads of info on winding online. Starting with cycling their legs, tummy rubbing in a clockwise fashion, frequent winding during the feed, more upright feeding positions.

It's also normal for them to become 'fussy' (an understatement if there ever was one) leading up to growth spurts, teething, illness etc. so something to watch out for.
