Do you mean BF and EBM (expressed breast milk)?
If so DD is 13 weeks and is mainly BF but DH gives a bottle of EBM on saturday and sunday mornings to give me a lie in.

I also freeze EBM during the week to create a bank of milk. I've then been able to leave this with DH on the occasions that I've been out for the evening with friends for birthday's etc.

DD had her first bottle of EBM at about 4 weeks and there has been no problem with latch or nipple confusion.

Apologies if this wasn't what you were asking :)

It was exactly what i was asking :)

I plan on BF & EBM too. Just so you have that extra bit of flexiblity.

In regards to BF on demand, how to you do this with bottled EBM? on demand still or every so many hours or when baby cries/cues?

BF and EBM both on demand. I find it's best to watch for hunger cues and not let DD get as far as crying (I don't always suceed at this). If I leave it too long and we get to the crying stage it's a struggle to get her to latch or take the bottle.

I used to wonder about this too. DH feeds DS EBM on the day I go to work. My milk is frozen in bags of between 3 and 5 oz. DH will give DS a bottle and then if he cries or looks like he's still hungry when he finishes DH will give him another smaller one.
They don't go by the clock. DH just feeds DS whenever he asks. Some days he'll have 3 or 4 bottles in 2 hours!
I don't really have any other advice as I never give DS a bottle. DH is probably the one you should be talking to :)
As your baby is feed on demand I'd continue with this when giving him EBM.
Heop this helps.

Thanks.

Yeah i want to be able to establish breast feeding, then introduce bottled EBM, for either when i have to be somewhere, or if someone else is looking after baby or when DP wants to feed & i can nap :)

They say to wait about 4 weeks don't they before introducing bottled EBM?

I guess its just pot-luck if your baby accepts nipple and teat

They say to wait until breast feeding is established before you introduce EBM.
I chose to ignore them and gave DS EBM from as early as 5 days!
I think it was day 5 that he slept all day and would not be woken. My boobs were so sore that I had to open up the steriliser and pump and figure out quickly how to use them! DH gave that bottle to DS in the middle of the night so I got a continous 4 hour sleep. It was great :)

Yeah i think they can only give you guidelines but it all depends on you, your baby doesnt it. i like the idea of BF AND expressing. i just hope im a lucky one & baby is happy with both nipple & teat :)

I was at my gp's about a lump i noticed, they think its a blocked duct, so may need to express anyway. but i've got a tommee tippee set (huge set on offer - bottles, manuel pump etc the lot)

So you would all advise to stick to demand feeding when you are combining the two?

Definitely stick to demand feeding. Take your cues from your baby. He'll let you know what he needs :)

ditto
