growth spurt at 1 week?

dts were born at 38+4 and are now 7 days old. Today they have fed constantly all day (used to that at night, not daytimes too!) Can this be a growth spurt so early? And if so, how long could it last? Nipples haven't had a break all day and I'm dreading tonight.

Could be

Can you lay down to feed so you can rest?

DD was on one loooong growth spurt from birth TBH

Congrats on your twins

can't manage to latch them both on when I lie down ruby. I get your point re one long growth spurt :) but today does seem much worse than the other days (I know there aren't that many to compare just yet).

I hate to say it but this sounds like what my DS did for the first two weeks. He would feed every hour and a half for nearly an hour at a time. Sometime feeds would just run into each other.

I think the best piece of advice I was given was that your baby wont starve if you've just finished a feed and you take a break for an hour or so, but then I guess it's probably more difficult with twins...

Do they feed at the same time or is it one on one off so to speak?

Congrats btw

Congratulations, and well done for getting this far!

Probably is the first evil growth spurt. Can you try a BN position - lay down almost flat, and have them laying down on top of you, with their feet by your head? May allow you to rest if nothing else!

MamaChris · 08/10/2010 21:00

yes, they feed together often, and I'm still learning positions that make that possible. hadn't considered BN with their feet by my head! will give it a go. was thinking that perhaps because they're so small, and I'm rather large of nork, that was why the BN position I have tried (with their feet pointing to my side) wasn't working.

I'm hoping this is a growth spurt, rather than just how life will be for the next few weeks. with one baby you get to swap sides and give the other side a break when you get sore. with twins, that's just not possible and it's this (and lack of sleep) that's getting to me, I think.
