Any tongue tie experts on here?

Prob not possible to diagnose from a photo but I wondered if anyone could give it a shot?

Have always wondered if DD2 has some degree of tongue tie - the m/w thought not but wasn't exactly thorough.

Have put some pics on profile if anyone wants to give their opinion.

Thanks!

Thanks triplechoc, glad it had a positive ending.

Just spoke to Luton, they said 14 weeks is not too late - going to the drop in tomorrow to have it checked.

Quick update - had her tongue checked this morning.

At first the lady said she did have a tie but it was fairly flexible and her tongue had plenty of movement. Then she watched me feed her - she started off well as usual then started clicking and sliding off afer a couple of minutes. I explained she clicks and dribbles when being bottle fed too. So she decided it could probably do with being done after all.

Got an appt next week to have it done on the NHS! Thanks so much for everyone#s help. Will let you know if feeding improves.

Great news! DS had his done when he was 11 weeks and it made a big difference.

Immediately afterwards there was only a small improvement (I had to feed him every couple of hours for 2-3 days to help with the healing), but over the next few weeks things got better and better. He is now 6 months, and we are still going strong.

DS had developed a number of bad habits to compensate, so it did take a little while (and a lot of patience) to get it right, but it was really worth it.

Hope it goes well for both of you :)

Thanks browneyesblue Smile

That's helpful to know about the bad habits, I will bear that in mind.

If the separation improves her latch I know we still have a mountain to climb with regards to supply as we are on about 50 per cent formula at the moment. But if she can feed more efficiently then hopefully we can start to tackle that.

I haven't set my hopes on exclusively breastfeeding but an increase of any kind will be really good.

Can you express to bump up your supply?

Some mums find that they can use finger-feeding to improve latch style.

It's very important that you breastfeed lots and lots after the op, to ensure the tie heals correctly, and her tongue has better movement.

NQC I may start expressing again - I get very little when I express but every little helps I guess.

The procedure is on Weds so gonna get some DVDs for my toddler so I can spend plenty of time feeding next week. Got the in laws here over the weekend so will try to take her to bed for some skin to skin over the weekend.
