Going back to work question

I am going back to work when my son is 1 year old. At the moment, his milk feeds are (roughly, he feeds on demand):
On waking
Before (and sometimes after) morning nap
Before (and sometimes after) evening nap
At bed-time.

At bed-time, I feed him for about 10-15 minutes and then his dad gives him a few ounces of formula. This has been what we have been doing since he was very little and "failing to thrive".

If we are out and about, sometimes he is too stimulated to feed from me in the day for long, and on these days, he tends to take more formula from the bottle in the evening e.g. on a regular day, he might just take an ounce or two, but if he has skipped breastfeeds during the day, he might have even 6 ounces (though this is rare).

Anyway, I am just wondering what happens when I go back to work? I am going back 2.5 days which will probably be 2 days one week and 3 the next (M, T and Th on "long" week).

I'd like to keep feeding him but do I have to express in the day to keep my supply up? I'm not sure how I feel about this.. work is very busy and I found expressing (which I did a lot of) very difficult and upsetting.

If I don't, do I have to accept that the daytime feeds will just go? Or will feeding the rest of the time be enough at this stage?

you might need to express to keep the day time feed going (if you plan on keeping the day time feeds when your not working), If your still able to breastfeed on the days when your working before bed this might be enough as your milk supply will be full so you son might not bother with his bottle as he'll have more milk than normal. If that makes sense?

I expressed for 6 months but stopped when DS turned 1. By then he was quite happy to drink cow's milk during the day. and of course he was eating plenty of other food by then.

You probably won't need to give up the daytime feeds. Milk will probably be there when it's required somehow.

Even one year on, if DS wants a feed before a daytime nap at the weekend, there seems to be enough there to satisfy him.

At the age of 1 you won't need to express in the day - your body will adjust to the feeding some days and not others.
