vomit in 14h old newborn - normal?

My 14 hour old dd has just been sick. About 8 hours after she last fed at the hospital. Looked mostly clear, like saliva, and definitely more fluid than she could have drunk from me so far. I had antibiotics, so not sure if this could have upset her belly (which is gurgling lots), but ds was never sick this early.

Is this normal or should I worry? Thx.

I have no idea, but there can be no harm in ringing your maternity ward and asking them. Hope she is ok.

My daughter was sick avfew times clear fluid after she was born she also had a few coughing episodes and the midwives told me it was mucous having said that we were still in hospital so they did give her a quick check over.

MamaChris - you need to ring the maternity ward or the midwife. Not because there is anything obviously wrong - loads of babies bring 'stuff' up like this - but because this* is something the flippin' internet is no good for!!!

My dd was a bit sicky for the first couple of days, although it was never very much at a time, more posseting really. They said it was mucous / gunk and she was just clearing herself out. Is a midwife due to come to see you today?

Congratulations btw :o

Thanks. Spoke to midwife at hospital who says probably just mucous, but she's going to try and get the community midwife out to see me.

thx tiktok. I do know that :) And if she seemed at all poorly I would have rung right away. I wanted to check whether it was within the range of "normal" experience, given my knowledge is restricted to just one baby so far.

But you're right. Diagnosis at distance by other mums not a substitute for proper medical care.
