The cafe Nero on Deansgate is nice

Comfy sofas to feed on

The Costa in the back of Waterstones on the first floor of the Arndale is nice and usually quiet. I've also BF a few times in the Starbucks in the Arndale, near Next. I try to get one of the nice comfy sofas.

If you don't want to buy a drink, Boots has a free feeding room. It's nothing fancy but has a couple of chairs and changing mats. There is also a feeding room in the basement of the Triangle, next to the toilets - you have to press the intercom and they open the door for you. It's clean but last time I went in there was only a stool to sit on - clearly no one who has ever BF was involved in planning that!!

sorry but I don't really understand the question - you can feed anywhere! A nice cafe, a park bench, a bench in a shopping centre, anywhere there is a seat!

I have never understood why someone would want to sit in a nappy changing area when you can feed anywhere at all....If you really want specifics, John Lewis sofa department is one of my favourites.

It's a fair question if you are new to BF or to BF in public...but take your point in that you can feed anywhere really.

I was really nervous/self-conscious when I BF in public for the first time, but had my mum with me with was good. We were in quite a smart restaurant in Edinburgh, DD wasn't 'due' a feed but wanted to be fed so I went for it and all was good.

I just asked the staff when we were going to the table for a more private table so I wasn't in the middle of the restaurant with my boobs out. Nothing wrong with that but not what I wanted to do!

After that I was happy to feed wherever and honestly never felt awkward or self-conscious. That said, some places are better than others and I used to like Starbucks sofas and JL feeding room in Edinburgh has a lovely view over Leith whereas in Milton Keynes it's a pretty grim room - so some places better than others.

Get the hang of it, wear a top you're comfy in and go for it. Manchester is a big city and generally baby-friendly so I don't think you'll have any problems.

Only just seen the additional replies to my post - thanks.

I think my question is pretty self explanatory and tiokiko sums it up well - some people are quite nervous about BF in public for a variety of reasons and some places are more BF than others.

Thanks.

secondcoming - love the name. Were you a Stone Roses fan?

Flying - nice to hear of 2 teenage girls bfing. Not that common is it really.

Have since fed in Mcr. In Giraffe of all places. It was fine but not that comfy. You are right about needing comfy sofas!
