definite no on number one have had to return mine and since discovered the problems I had with it are not uncommon. (milk up the tube and loss of suction). Haven't used any of the others but did use an Avent manual with DC1 and found it hard work and gave me hand cramps. both times I've given up with pumps and hand expressed. I've foundhand expressing quicker, more effective and less painful and all you need is a sterilized bottle. Only downside is that I keep finding sprays of milk on the furniture LOL.

I use the Tommee Tippee manual pump and have always found it very good.

However I've always wondered if I could get more out using the electric one, and thats a cracking price, so I'd suggest getting the Tommee Tippee electric one.

I haven't used any of those, but do have a manual and electric avent pump, both of which are very good.

I found the electric pump was less harsh on my breast than the manual, but then the avent pump I can set my own pumping action so it mimics my DS's sucking.

It's on offer at boots at the mo

I use the Medela Swing electric one - I find it great. Can get milk every time, easy to use and clean. I have a spare no 5 one - it did work, but I would find it exhausting to use a manual one. I pump for about twenty minutes to half an hour to get about 100ml, so my hand would be knackered!

Haggisfish · 28/09/2010 15:51

ps I'll send you the tesco manual one if you like as I'm not going to use it again - depends on how squeamish you are! I have cleaned it thoroughly, obviously.

I had electric last time but I hated it. Can't see manual being much better from that POV though because I hated the suction cup thing!

Going to need one and I never got the hang of hand expressing 'tidily'

Will look at the electric ones more closely.

Thanks

I use the medela mini electric and have found it to be effective and comfortable especially if you buy one of the non standard breast shields to use with it. The only downside is that it is very noisy so it won't be discrete.

nymphadora · 28/09/2010 19:42

Doubt I'll have the chance to express at work so that may not be an issue!

I use the Medela Mini too - it is very effective but, as ayjayjay says, it's very noisy.

I have also used the Tommee Tippee Manual Breast Pump, which was fine, but takes longer than the electric pump.

Medela swing is excellent, its electric but just as effective with batteries. Had a Tommee Tippee one but it broke after only a couple of uses.

I'm looking for user feedback on the Calypso range of breastpumps. Seems like no-one has ever used one. Bad sign maybe?
