Pregnancy and breastfeeding- Any advice?

Hi, I'm 21 weeks pregnant and have a 2yr old DS and since the start of this pregnancy feeding him is an ordeal only because it is so sore it feels like hot pokers are being inserted into my nipples every time he latches on. To be fair he only has 1 or 2 feeds a day but I dread the moment and am screwing up my toes for the duration. I really want to continue, packing it in is not an option as I want it to be his choice and also because I think it will help a lot in the early days with jealousy issues and any rivalry if he still has a piece of me that brings comfort and familiarity, not to mention the health benefits.

So has anyone else been through this and survived, or do you have any tips that will make feeds easier? The thought of another 20 weeks.....

Bump. Am ttc DC#2 and don't want to give up feeding DS but am also worried about this... With DS boobs were extremely sensitive throughout the pregnancy. Can anyone help?

Ouch, that does sound painful. Not sure how you could reduce sensitivity. Have you read the Hilary Flowers Tandem Feeding book? There's a chapter about painful feeding in there that might have some good advice.

Gruffalo I had really sore boobs when I was expecting DD but this time around I've been fine and I'm still feeding her 4 or 5 times a day.

I forgot to add something that helped me for a while but doesn't seem to anymore though was squeezing my nipples for a bit before he latched on sort of like squeezing the pain out. Thought it might help someone else.

Mine did hurt, it varied and I think it got slightly better but the pain didn't actually go entirely until DD was a few months old

I find that if I ask DD to open her mouth really wide before latching on the pain isn't quite as bad, but it is still pretty toe curling. Hoping it doesn't get any worse...
