Cranial Osteopathy

I was wondering if anyone had any comments/views on cranial osteopathy and its effects on babies with bad wind. Our son is 8 weeks old and hates passing wind and often brings up milk. He doesn't cry out in pain as you would expect if he had colic but does go bright red and get very frustrated. We have looked into baby massage classes and these are due to start shortly but we have also heard good things about cranial osteopathy. Any views would be appreciated.

Another fan of c.o. here. Both mine have been and life definitley got easier after - that said it could be just developmental - but as feffi says it won't do any harm. Most babie seem to be really relaxed by it.

Josh was born without aid and labour was less than 12 hours in total. Did anyone experience this kind of birth or was the birth aided if you don't mind me asking? We have heard that normally aided delivery delivers more pressure which results in CO being of more help?

Many thanks for your comments

I had a c-secion as ds was a footling breech. My osteopath said he'd been scrunched up in the womb and co would help uncscrunch him - ease pressure around the bridge of his nose, so my understanding is that it can be about more than just the birth.
good luck

JoshsDad, there have been lots of threads about this subject lately. If you do a search on 'cranial osteopathy' from the link at the top of the page, then you should get lots more information.

Snap lockets, same as our dd. The CO said that there was trauma to some of the nerves at the back of her head. The labour got on my nerves that's certainly true...

starlover · 06/09/2005 19:41

i cannot speak highly enough of CO. it is just amazing and i would recommend it to ANYONE

KristinaM · 06/09/2005 19:46

We took Ds as he had clampdown bite reflex ( which made feeding difficult) and reflux, after an instrumental delivery. These really improved after CO. Joshsdad - I would try it if I were you. All you have to lose is your time to take him and the cost of the appointments - we paid £25 a time. The babies seem to like it - its very gentle. Some even sleep through it.

logic · 06/09/2005 20:05

£25? We paid £45 for the 1st appointment and then £40 each for the two after that. Worth every penny though.

starlover · 06/09/2005 20:06

depends where you are i think logic

i paid £0
my bexst friends aunt is an osteopath! BUT, i would gladly have paid for the treatment

logic · 06/09/2005 20:17

Absolutely, I couldn't believe the difference! The CO did say that dd had one of the top ten worst screams she had heard!

starlover · 06/09/2005 20:18

maybe that's why you had to pay so much! lol

logic · 06/09/2005 20:19

Do you know, I can still hear her screaming even when's she's not? It's got into my head.

starlover · 06/09/2005 20:20

maybe you need the CO?

logic · 06/09/2005 20:25

A large amount of alcohol and a week in a spa may also cure it, I think. What with screaming girl and What are you doing? boy, I just want to leave home atm.
