Breastfeeding friendly places in Leeds?

My baby is nearly 4 weeks old, I really want to be able to breastfeed her in public (I've done it once in the park) but I am quite shy and after 29 years of not getting my nipples out, I find the idea of doing it in a cafe quite daunting!
I'm sure it's possible to be really discreet when you have had lots of practice but for me at the moment, I do end up sitting with my nipple poking out of the slit in my unattractive nursing bra while she punches and headbutts my breast for a few minutes. So, if anyone knows of any cafes/shops in Leeds where other people regularly breastfeed I would be grateful!

Yes we could have a breastfeeding "date" one day. Maybe in Seven Arts centre or somewhere else in Chapel Allerton?

I've fed in 4th floor cafe at Harvey Nicks, M&S cafe (they were brilliant and found me a nice comfy table), the cafe at the Marriott, several Cafe Neros. Never felt uncomfortable, and people have always been very nice about it.

I've also fed on the Leeds-Ilkley train several times, which is fine if you can keep your baby latched on through all the swaying!

Oh -- and the argument, if you do have any nasty comments, is:

"By law I can feed my baby anywhere I like in England and Wales, and it is against the law to try and stop me. I suggest you move somewhere where you can't see me."

Weird that you had complaints at Nero -- I've always found it the most BF friendly cafe company.

I'd probably just tell them to piss off.

I've BF my ravenously hungry DD (12 weeks tomorrow) in various places around Leeds city centre with no problems. :) People rarely seem to notice, but if they do they just tend to politely look away rather than stare or pass comment. Though older women tend to smile encouragingly, presumably because they've been in the same boat!

Occasionally, if children notice, they stop and look on curiously. They then ask their parent/guardian what's happening normally, and get an explanation about the baby having their dinner. It's quite nice in a way to help out with the education and hopefully helps instil that BF isn't unusual in the next generation! Grin

However if you do head into the city centre and prefer to sneak away somewhere to feed in privacy, on the top floor of Boots there is a reasonable sized and well equipped feeding/changing room. It's got a nice gliding chair in and there's plenty of room to take a pram in as well. You can just head into there unannounced and feed your LO in peace.

Alternatively, there seem to be enough BFers around that if you'd prefer a BFing buddy to head in with you then something can likely be arranged. :)
