Bottle feeding HELP!!!

Hi, I desperately need help to get my 3.5 month old on the bottle. My best friends wedding is coming up & my mum is supposed to be baby sitting but my LO is refusing to take a bottle. I did all the research before he was born, so gave him a bottle at 3 weeks & then about one a week after that so he wouldn't "forget" but at the same time wouldn't start preferring the bottle. It's now been 6 weeks since he took a bottle & the wedding is now only 3 weeks away. I've tried everything.... 5 different types of bottle, silicone/ latex teats, different teat sizes, expressed milk, formula milk, warm milk, cold milk, feeding him when he's hungry, feeding him when he's not hungry, hubby feeding him....etc. He wouldn't take a dummy before either but will now quite happily suck on one if I hold it in his mouth so was hoping this would lead to him sucking on the bottle, but no! He'll basically just play with the teat, mostly pushing it out with his tongue. Recently he's actually pursed his lips around the bottle & started to suck a little but doesn't actually take any milk.

So basically wondering if anyone as any suggestions?! I've mentioned it a few times to the health visitor but they just say to persevere. I'm even willing to get in a "professional" to help, but not sure who to contact? Would it be a maternity nurse? I live in London so surly there should be help available somehow?

Any advise appreciated!! Only 3 weeks to go!

Try get someone else to feed your baby.

Um, I don't think so (not helpful emoticon). I think that you need a cup with a thin edge. For instance, I used the top from my tommy tippee bottles which worked ok. You need to gently tip it towards their mouth and they sort of lap it out, like a dog Grin.

Hang on, I'll Google it. This isn't my area of expertise!!!

Have you tried Breastflow bottles? Some people have success with them as apparently they are most like a nipple. Getting someone else to feed the baby is a good idea. Worst case scenario, can your mum bring the baby to you at the wedding for a breastfeed if it is local. This is what friends of mine ended up doing.

Try going to You Tube - there's quite a few vids about it if you put in something like "cup feeding infant"

Sorry to explain - when bf my baby would only take a bottle from someone else.

Thanks for tips - will try a cup! I called an agency re getting a maternity nurse & they wanted to charge £150 per day for 2 weeks just to get him to take a bottle Shock I can definitely think of better things to spend the money on!

Worst case scenario my mum can bring him over for feeds but I'm bridesmaid & really looking forward to getting a bit tipsy & tuning out for an evening....

I will probably just have to leave my husband to it & leave the house so I don't have to listen to bubs protesting as then I know I'll cave in and give him the boob Sad
