Pregnant and BF -will the laxative effect of colostrum cause my DD to lose weight?

I am currently 20 weeks pg, and from the look of DD(18 mo)'s nappies, my milk has changed to colostrum.

She is quite slender for a toddler, following a recent start at nursery and the constant illness that comes from being exposed to the local germ pool for the first time, and I am worried that the extra pooing that she is doing may cause her to lose more weight.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi smallblackflowers - It won't cause her to lose weight (don't forget colostrum is a very concentrated food that's full of antibodies) but will make for interesting nappies. My own personal theory is that the toddler gets the immune system boost from the colostrum before baby is born to help protect baby (may well be cobblers but hey!)

I've bfed through two pgs (one of which I tandem nursed for 8 months) and whilst colostrum has had some fun effects on nappies it hasn't caused any weight loss.

Thanks TruthSweet, that's reassuring. Am planning to tandem nurse (if she still wants to). Like your theory about the immune system boost too - we could definitely do with one of those at the moment!
What I'm not really looking forward to is explaining why DD has -explosive- mushy nappies to nursery, as sure I'll get some funny looks....
