so what do i do?

soak it and pick it out? or what?

i have an immensely strong let down which results in ds coming back off the nipple at the beginning of a feed and having a crap latch...towards the end he latches better.

think these factors may have caused it, but maybe thrush?

what do you do about thrush?

gah, thought i was out of the woods at 7 weeks in terms of established feeding.

Grin

(bet it's summat utterly obvious)

Heathcliffscathy · 17/09/2010 21:52

it's a thing.

a white dot on your nipple. blocked duct with milk. painful. and apparently if you get it out it is like a string of congealed milk.

ffs.

Info from Kellymom here.

Apologies if you've read this already Sophable.

urrrrr

oh my word soph that sounds horrid

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 21:59

I have had this. Repeatedly. Sigh.

FWIW, soak it with damp heat ie warm flannel and then let you little limpet suck it out.

I did once pick at one and pulled a long bit of cheese out Grin

holy moly Pacific

I had these with both DD's. They are also referred to as a milk blister. No-one (GP, HV, midwife, seemed to have heard of it. I got all of my info from Kellymom, but make sure you get it cleared because it can lead to mastitis.

Heathcliffscathy · 17/09/2010 22:13

niggle...do i rely on him to suck it out (barf) or try to pick it out?

I had a go with one with a needle and it didn't help except to make my nipple bleed Shock. The next couple of times I got them I gently pierced the skin and either pumped at it to clear the blockage or fed to get the baby to clear it (which is supposed to be more reliable).

I got them weeks into feeding and I reckoned it was down to bad positioning - like trying to feed whilst mnetting doing something important.

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 22:22

I always always found baby more effective at getting rid of them (and blocked glands, and mastitis ) than pump or handexpressing.

I never did anything with needles

I also found changing position ie feeding with baby in rugby hold helped.

Good luck Smile!
