very short feeds at 6 weeks - not many poos?

my daughter is six weeks and the last week has gone from feeding for around 30-40 mins to around 15 before she is full and refusing to latch on any more. She has also stopped pooing so much just maybe once every few days. She wees loads just not much poo (last poo was 2 days ago for example). The only other difference I have noticed is that now the milk seems to come out much more forcefully, if she lets go during a feed it actually sprays out so it goes over her head or in her hair so not sure if she is just getting it all out quicker!

are these changes normal at 6 weeks? I was planning to give her a bottle at night but didnt because she has been sleeping aroudn 6 hours now anyway so she is only breastfed.

If she isn't needing to be fed more frequently then she has probably become a more efficient feeder. If she's already going 6 hours that's fab. Wish my DD who is also 6 weeks and mix fed would do 6 hours. DH gives her a bottle at 10.30 so I can go to bed early but usually up by 2.

I think it sounds fine, just becoming more efficient at both getting the milk out and her body using it all up so there is very little to come out the other end!

At around 6 weeks poo can slow down. Providing there are still plenty of wet nappies this is not a problem.

Why were you planning to give a bottle at night, out of interest?

well thats good news about the poos anyway!
jemjabella we were going to give her a bottle so that my husband could feed her one feed and i could have some sleep. We actuallyt gave her a bottle one night as I was ill and she slept through for 6 hours (she was waking every two hours) the next night we DIDNT give her a bottle and she did the same and has done ever since so it must have been a coincidence!.Now she is sleeping through a bit longer there is no need for my husband to feed her as ifeel more rested anyway :)
