My DS is 6mo
So, After a long battle getting DS to take a bottle with a view to stopping BF, he started taking EBM at about 22 weeks, then we gradually progressed to formula. He took a good feed of formula for about a week. I was really pleased that I had been able to drop one breast feed. However one week in he gradually started taking less and less at the bottle feed. He was lasting till his next boobie feed so though he must be eating more than I thought of solids (we are doing BLW. The last three days he has refused the bottle completely. I have stood firm and not offered him anything but the bottle or solids till the next boob feed. He has been grouchy but lasted till the next feed each time.
He has therefore only had three breast feeds all day for the last three days, plus bits of solids that havent been thrown on the floor/squished into tray. He sleeps through and has continued to do so (so far).
Can he possibly be getting enough food?
It is surely too early to be dropping a feed?
please tell me I am not a terrible mother for making him 'go hungry'

I have thought long and hard about giving up breast feeding and have decided it is the right thing for me to do. I really need some reassurance that this approach isn't going to do him any harm ( he is on the 75th centile so he has plenty of stores!!)

I think if he is still content and still weeing, pooing and not losing weight it's unlikely to be harming him, but I think you should try to get to the bottom of it. Could he be teething?

Can you continue to used expressed breastmilk? Perhaps he doesn't like formula. Breastmilk's best for him too (although I know this is over-debated all the time!)

What SPB said Smile.

Sorry you are having to go through this, ang.
I seem to remember that you have tried different teats/bottles etc?? If not, that might be worth a go.
Or just forget the bottle and offer him some FF in a TommyTippee free-flow cup or similar. And you know who can count yoghurts etc - I used to put FF into purees with my older ones; not sure how that would work with BLW of course.

But yes, if he is weeing/pooing/developing/not losing weight you are not doing him any harm.

Thanks ladies, hope things going better for you Pacific.

he's not too keen on sippy cups either, enjoys bashing them on highchair but if try to guide towards mouth, he turns his head away!

I dont think its particularly the contents, he turns away without even tasting whats in there....
