If I am making a drink of fruit juice for a 4m old, do I use cooled boiled water or can I use bottled water or tap water?
Thanks :)

I personally wouldn't give a baby of that age anything other than milk (formula or breast). Smile

I agree with the badger that you really shouldn't give a 4mo anything other than milk, but if you must, definitly cooled boiled water, and not tap as its not sterile and definitly not bottled as they can have harmful levels of minerals for a baby.

What the other posters said.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the same rules applied to other drinks as to formula.

I nearly put in my OP "please do not advise me on the merits or otherwise of giving a 4mo fruit juice" :)

Just out of interest, why do you want to give your baby fruit juice?

FrameyMcFrame · 10/09/2010 19:10

I used to just top up juice with boilled water from the kettle. If the fruit juice is cold it ends up an ok temp. I always would forget to put boilled water aside to cool.
Bottled water is no good apparently as it's too high in minerals.

I use the teaspoon of juice to an ounce of water rule, boiled water.

Surely this is too much sugar for a 4month year old? Sorry...but why not just give water if you don't want to give milk for some reason....
