baby clamping on nipple

My daughter is 7 and a half months old. She has recently started clamping down on my nipple while feeding. She also (more worryingly) comes off by turning her head but not releasing the nipple, so that it stretches and then 'pings' out. She will also wriggle and pull back while still latched on so the nipple stretches. I am seeing that my nipples are getting stretched, and I'm worried that this might even have an effect on breast feeding if I have another child. I have tried stopping the feed if she does this, but since she does it so often, i am not sure she can tell that this is the reason I am stopping the feed and she just cries. I stop the feed when she bites, and this has almost eliminated biting, it doesn't seem to be working for this. Would be very very grateful if you have any advice!
Thanks.

My son went through a faze of biting down & then pulling off. I really feel for you because it hurts like hell.He also used to writh around especially when he was tired. I never stopped his feeds.I was always aware that if he didn't get the milk that he needed my milk supply would be cut back as it is supply & demand.I just composed myself & put him back on. He is now nearly 7 months & I'm pleased to say that he stopped all by himself & hasn't done it in ages. Apparently, my husband used to do it to his Mother too. It never effected my milk & my nipples are fine.Don't worry. It will be just a faze & I suggest you continue to breastfeed & try to enjoy it. After all, it is such a special thing to be able to do.

thanks, it's a great comfort to have your message, especially since your baby seemed to stop it on his own. I was feeling I was doing something wrong, and somehow needed to make her stop myself. She is already doing a little less, though still too much for comfort!

DS did this for a little while, and again, he stopped by himself. I think it lasted maybe 10 days - two weeks ish? Know its annoying (and painful) but it passes.
