any particular reason you want to use soya? It isnt advised for babies under 6 months old and only under medical advice. You can buy it in supermarkets, Boots, etc

Hi Seona,
It's not for me. My SIL is about to have her 2nd baby and the first was intelorant of cow's milk so prescribed soya. The hospital have told her she should use soya and must provide her own, but the Dr says he can't give her a presription until the pediatrician says the baby should have soya, which he/she won't do until the baby is born. My SIL and I do not have a very close relationship (more's the pity) so this is all through MIL. I suggested BFing (!!) and goats milk to MIL but she can't really comment much and I certainly can't get involved as all my info is second hand through MIL anyway.

SIL says the chemist will only order soya milk if it's prescribed but I'm sure I remember hearing you can buy it over the counter.

Thanks

BR

p.s. Boots normally stock them instore too plus I have seen soya milk in the supermarket

Can buy in any big supermarket, have seen in tesco, although this baby might not be intolerant .....

....and my SIL told by specialist def not to give a cows milk intolerant baby (like her DS) soya formula as it would in all likelihood result in them becoming soya intolerant which would be even more annoying in the long run as soya is in everything. Her DS now three has outgrown cows milk intolerance.

If paed at birth says baby must have special milk then the hospital should provide it. Even if they don't would be able to get GP to do prescription pretty quickly.
