Baby not happy with frozen EBM

Hi there

I've been expressing since my baby was born 3 months ago as she just couldn't get the hang of latching on and just screamed at me!!! As I produce more than she can take, I have been expressing it - especially handy for growth spurts. However, it doesn't seem to settle with her - she becomes quite grumpy and grizzly, which is not in her nature at all.

Health visitor has not come across this before so wondered if anyone here had! I've looked around the interweb and can't seen to find anything about it.

I follow all the guidelines for freezing and defrosting so I'm very confused.

I don't particularly want to throw away the excess as one day it will diminish and at least I will have a stash to use.

Anyone else had similar issues??

Maybe it is the bottle rather than the milk i.e. she is taking in more air and that is what is making her grizzly.

Have you smelled/tasted the milk? Some people find that their refrigerated or frozen milk begins to smell or taste soapy, sour, or even rancid soon after it's stored, even though all storage guidelines have been followed closely. These mothers have an excess of the enzyme lipase in their milk, which begins to break down the milk fat soon after the milk is expressed. Most babies do not mind a mild change in taste, and the milk is not harmful, but the stronger the taste the more likely that baby will reject it.
