Dd2 is 12 weeks old and exclusively bf. She is 95th centile for weight and 91st for length. Very contented and thriving. But she feeds a lot. Rarely more than an hour between feeds in the day and 2-3 hourly at night. Sometimes has a 4 hour gap between midnight and 4am but then when she wakens she often feeds for about 2 hours. We co sleep. I'm pretty sure this is normal for her. Dd1 was ebf and didn't feed as much but ds was always ravenous and I stopped bf partly because I thought I had no milk. He was taking 12 8oz bottles at 12 weeks and the hv advised me to wean him(!!!) then. So with dd2 I'm pretty content that all is well (although I'm a bit knackered). Anyway I'm going back to work ft when she's 5.5 months and intend to continue bf. So I need to start building up a supply of ebm. But there's not a lot of time when she isn't feeding and not a lot of milk when I try. I expressed easily with dd1 but I could express after a 2 hour break since she'd fed at this age when I felt a bit engorged. I never get a chance to get engorged with dd2. So I decided to have a go with fenugreek to up my supply for expressing. Which is definitely working. But dd1 is also enjoying the extra milk and is more settled than before especially in the morning. This wasn't my reason for taking the fenugreek. It gives me a window for expressing and she even napped for an hour this am and I made it to the gym. (she isn't taking a bottle yet so I'm pretty tied to her)

So my question is - is this ok? Is the extra milk courtesy of the fenugreek normal composition or is it all foremilk? Don't want to mess up feeding that's going so well.

It doesn't matter a jot if it is 'all foremilk' - what's wrong with foremilk? :)

If your breasts feel fuller with fenugreek and your daughter then feeds then it is possible the milk she takes will be proportionately higher in water than if you fed when your breasts are emptier - but that's nothing to worry about.

You could try expressing when she has finished a feed, or any time which is convenient to you. This would save you the hassle of fenugreek.
