Hello can anybody share their experiences with me of breast feeding whilst pregnant?
I am pregnant with no2 and have a 22m old baby girl. In my first pregnancy I was VERY sick and tired till 17weeks and am thinking that its best if I stop soon as am not sure I will manage the demand of the pregnancy and feeding. Of course my main concern is that DD will be upset too-any tips on coping with the withdrawl? Anybody carried on through the pregnancy?

Yes, I nursed DS1 to 17 wks of DS2's pg and DS2 through DD's pg (he's still going).

'Adventures in Tandem Nursing' by Hilary Flower is worth reading and try and talk to other women who have done it.

It is possible but some find it more umpleasant than others.

Also, search the archives here - lots of threads on this topic :)

I am also pregnant (13 weeks) and have a 22 mo DD. Your situation sounds similar to mine, I had a bloody awful first pregnancy- 9 months of puking, mystery pains etc. But this time round has been really different and easy, aside from being very tired for the first 6 or 7 weeks. I would just see how it goes, you might be lucky like I am! Make sure you eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water and get loads of rest if you can.

I was recommended that book too and it is really good. Is there a LLL group or something similar nearby?

I have done it twice !

Currently tandem tri-tandem nursing
DD1 4 years old
DS 2 years old
DD2 4 days old

I had one nurseling in my second pregnancy and tandem nursed through my second.

I also recommend the Hilary Flower book and attending your local LLL group.

Whatever you decide, will be the right thing for you and your child. There is nothing wrong with taking a day by day approach and see how things go with your new pregnancy. You might find yourself full of energy with little or no sickness, every pregnancy is very different.

Just remember that nothing is set in stone, plans can be altered or ignored. You might even find your child self weans during pregnancy, making the decision for you.

Certainly when I got near the end of my second pregnancy I was leaning to wanting to try tandem nursing and I feel it really encourages a strong bond between the new baby and their older sibling.

Good luck whatever you decide to do :)
