Help. Am lopsided. One breast bigger than other and has more milk, also a fast letdown which leads to baby coming on and off and occasinally gagging at the amount of milk spraying out. Looked on kellymom which suggested doubling up feeds on the smaller side. Had no sucess yet.

Anyone else had this. 5 wks in to BFing btw.

Hi! I have always found my baby favours one boob over the other, hence increasing the supply on the favoured side... is this part of the problem maybe? How about trying expressing to help, either by extra pumping on the small boob to increase supply there, or perhaps try feeding on the smaller boob whilst expressing a bit from the bigger one, this would mean the fast letdown could all be expressed therefore alleviating the gagging. Don't need to express the lot, just enough to get that over-eager bit out!

Sorry if it's a bit garbled, but hope is of some help. Good luck Smile

I have the same problem. My DS is now 21 weeks and he prefers the side with faster let down and more milk but he was spluttering like your DC in the beginning. I mentioned it to the health visitor today and she said it is quite a common issue but not a problem. I also breastfed my DD until she was 15 months and my supply was uneven then too. I usually start most feed on the less abundant side but I can't say it helps much. No advice really just wanted to say you're not alone!

I had same problem, and have just sort of drifted into starting on less abundant side, then switching to full lots-of-milk breast, where she finished feed. It all just seemed to sort itself out at about 8 weeks. As long as all's well with everything else and bubs gaining weight etc, then I wouldn;t worry about it, if that helps?

Thanks - it is getting slightly better now I am doubling up on the smaller side.
