Starting solids, will my baby drop his milk feeds naturally?

My 6 month old DS is fully breast-fed. We have just started (tentatively) a few solids. I am otherwise feeding as normal (ie. a lot!) I have never fathomed this 5 feeds a day business as DS feeds whenever and wherever he likes. So, I am wondering, now that he has a bit of pear puree etc in his tummy, will he gradually want less breastmilk? Will I just let him lead the way?

Much as the solids have been a bit of fun this week... I am so sad at the thought of the breast feeds reducing. I feel so chuffed to have made it to 6 months. And, more importantly, what will I do once the magic soother button no longer works???

Just carry on milk to demand, it'll decrease with requirement.

DD is 3.3. The magic soother button still works. Smile

It will naturally decrease as you increase the soids. The change will be so gradual you will hardly notice it till one day he'll magically having 3-4 feeds a day only!

The magic soother will continue to work as long as you BF. Still works for DS2 at 15 months anyway!

Well done on reaching 6 months Grin

If you want to be a big lazy selfish mummy Wink I can heartily recommend BLW instead of purees as it slooows the weaning process right down (certainly in my limited experience).
