how do you know when DC wants to drop a feed?

Sorry, this may be a silly question but once I start BLW in a few weeks I am not sure how I will know when DD wants/needs less BF.

I know she isn't going to drop feeds for a couple of months, but I was just wondering whether you stop offering and just see if she 'asks' for it, or whether she will just refuse feeds herself?

It's just that I have always tried to feed before she asks for it as much as poss by offering her feeds. I do this for her main feeds as well as a few aditional small feeds se has just to get her off to sleep for naps.

I'm not sure how best to proceed.
What are your experiences?

My DS dropped from 8 bfs a day to his current number, 3, in 2.5 months. He dropped the first two in the second week of weaning, though he'd previously been on 6 bfs a day for some time before he went back up to 8.

It was obvious he wanted to drop them - he just became uninterested and would just mess about rather than feed. When I dropped his 4pm feed he wasn't feeding properly at that one or the two either side (1pm and 7pm) but now he feeds well at 1 and 7. Also, when he does bf now he stays on for longer than he did prior to dropping feeds.

PS I demand fed at night and offered during the day. Night time was obvious as he started to sleep through. Smile
