Formula milk types. Help!

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the weaning thread but here goes..
DD is almost 8 months old and now exclusively formula fed. She is now eating 3 small meals a day, likes her food but doesn't cry for more IYSWIM.

She was combination fed up until I went back to work at 5 months old. Have always used Apatamil level 1 in ready made cartons as they are better for her silent reflux.
Over the past week she has started to take an extra feed at 4pm. The nursery have suggested to me that I should be putting her on hungry baby milk - is this milk not ust to delay the onset of weaning? Or should I be using stage 3 follow on milk?
So confused, all advice gratefully accepted!

My dd is about the same age. When I spoke to the health visitor about her milk intake, she suggested no more than 20 oz of milk per day, and to increase her solid food if she seems hungry (weird that the nursery haven't suggested that). If they do that, the first formula might continue to be fine.

Thank you! I will suggest that to them. She doesn't join in the snack time with the older babies but as she is BLW anyway I might suggest it to them.

Milk remains the main source of calories until 12 months with food as a complement and fun, new experience. I just gave milk to demand and as I was bfing have no idea how much that was, nor did I worry about it. Just trusted dd to know how much she needed.

Hungry baby milk doesn't have more calories, just harder to digest so stretches time between feeds.

It's fine to continue with whatever milk you ordinarily use. Especially if it suits her. If it ain't broke...

milk should be the main source of nutrition until your child is at least one.
she may be thirsty due to the solids? my babies all wanted extra feeds when they started solids

i think the 20oz is a minimum, not a maximum. even once they're past one they should be having around a pint of milk (or dairy-based equivalent) a day

i would go with what she is asking for rather than what a HV or anyone else suggests. she knows when she is hungry/thirsty

Thanks all of you. I feel reassured now. I wasn't remotely worried until the nursery spoke to me today, as it has always been difficult for me to get her to take formula. Will stick with the current set up and make sure she drinks her water as well when it's warm weather.

I would ask the nursery to add in a snack and drink of water rather than more formula
