How many times a day did you feed your 2 year old?

Just wondering. She's almost 22 months and had been fed on demand until fairly recently (it was preventing fertility/keeping me up all night/getting on my nerves) and I've been tackling her feeding to sleep and she's in her own bed and mostly sleeps through (I stay in the room stroking her whike she errr tantrums herself to sleep)

So I feed her once a day now as part of her bed time routine. Is that pointless (I kind of know I'll be told it isn't really) Is she getting the emotional benefits if it's only once a day? I mean enough of a benefit to carry on (having been quite an enthusiastic bfeeder I'm now lukewarm on it!)

Just don't know whether to carry on or knock it on the head if it's confusing the whole sleep issue.

I would also feed in the morning but my shifts I work three days and husband looks after her are unpredictable (sometimes leave at 5.30am) and so I can't always be there to feed in the morning.

At 2 years old dc1 was feeding once a day first thing in the morning. We went on that way, and then gradually wound down until stopping at 3 years 10 months.

At 2 years old dc2 was feeding 3-5 times a day most days I'd say, but not at night. Still going now at 3 years 2-3 times per day.

By the way, both times I've been pregnant by the time the older one reaches 2 years old, so this might have reduced the amount anyway.

PS with dc1 I worked 3 long days a week and always fed him on demand on the 4 days I was around. It worked fine Smile.

I'm nursing DD2 whose 32 m/o or 2.8 y/o (which ever you preferSmile. She nurses any where from 3 times a day to once every 3 days. It is really hit and miss but it means when I do nurse her it's because she needs it not just because it's 'time to nurse' IYSWIM? Not to say having a specific time of day for nursing is a bad thing but for us it worked out easier to just nurse when DD2 is in a 'Bah' mood.

I don't have any issues with over/under supply as DD3 is there hoovering it up Grin so it keeps on an even keel.
