Good for you shelinka If you can get hold of a good BF counsellor they could probably help you with getting DD2 feeding directly from you again. I have huge admiration for anyone that pumps all feeds, huge.

Lovely article

StealthPolarBear · 05/08/2010 20:44

shelinka you sound like you've had a dreadful time, well done to still be going with the pumping. Could you consider trying to feed directly again? Would be a lot less hassle than pumping, if it works for you.

I had help from a bfc in the first few weeks. She managed to get dd2 to latch on properly, but I couldn't do it without her help. I couldn't get dd2 to open her mouth wide enough, which led to all the nipple damage, bleeding and mastitis (and thrush as a result of the antibiotics I was prescribed for the mastitis!)

I've tried to get dd2 to feed directly again a few times in the past few weeks. She happily latches on now, but pulls off very quickly. I think the flow must be much slower than what she is used to with the bottle, although I'm using the slowest teats. I guess I'll keep trying, I'd really like her to have bm for as long as possible.

I'm double glad I posted it now, shelinka . Well done you.

Sometimes babies unlatch because milk is coming too fast. Worth seeing bfc again?

Thanks for all the pats on the back! I do have moments when I'm quite proud of myself

I think I will see a bfc again, if we could go back to direct feeding it would make life a lot easier.

Shelinka, I definitely found it easier when DSs mouth got bigger.
You're doing a great job.
