leaking nappies

hi i know this is not anything to do with feeding but didnt know where else to post it. my 4 month old keeps leaking her soiled nappies. she weighs 5.8 kg and wears the nappy size 4-9kg pampers (baby dry/active fit-size 3 midi it says). not sure why it keeps happening as the nappies are put on tightly and usually changed immediately. we end up with a lot of laundry and emergency baths.

any ideas or suggestions? thanks

I swapped to huggies and the problem was solved. Had always used pampers with my 1st dc tho.

all 3 of mine have gone through stage of leaky nappies - is it that the nappy doesn't fit very well (my kids were all chubby and pampers fit best, huggies seem to be better on skinny kids) or is it that the poo is very liquid? if the latter, changing to a much larger nappy might well help, all of mine went through a stage of what we called 'superpoos' which would shoot out with great force and necessitate change of clothing for everyone in vicinity...

thanks for the suggestions. i tried huggies with my first and didnt like it. not tried it this time. it may be worth trying the larger size although i thought it may leak more?

Try a bigger size wrapped tightly?

Cloth nappies tend not to leak. They cost much less too in the long run, and are much more environmentally friendly. If you're doing extra washing anyway because of leaky nappies, why not just wash cloth nappies instead?

Just a thought.....

Poonchi, we had exactly the same thing happen when my lo was that age, they do grow out of it! In the meantime have you tried Tescos superfit nappies, they are FAB! I started off with Huggies (didn't get on with them), moved to pampers but tried Tesco's when the pampers started leaking multiple times a day and we have never looked back! They come up higher on the back than the pampers and are more padded up the back too so offer lots of protection/ absorption! I have heard that papmepers have changed there active fit ones and have taken the padding out the back, lots of Mums aren't happy!

I loved Huggies with my DD, never had any leaks. My friend preferred Pampers with her DS - maybe a shape thing?

Boots own brand are quite good for not leaking too
