hello - wondering what your thoughts are please. DD is 6 months and EBF (- although we started on a bit of fruit and baby rice a few days ago).

the thing is she hasn't been hungry when she wakes in the morning (anytime between 5.30 and 7) for weeks and weeks. I feed her at 1030pm and then once more in the night when she wakes. if she wakes more than once we normally just settle her.

after I've got her up in the morning she vaguely sucks a few times, but doesn't really Feed until after her first nap of the day.

is it time night-wean or does she just not enjoy breakfast?? TVM in advance

Take the hint and ignore her when she wakes up at 5:30. She will probably go back to sleep and get used to waking up at a more reasonable time.

ah if only ... she bashes her head against the cot and yells ...

Let her. I'd ignore. See what happens.

Then maybe go in, give her dummy or pat/shh (treat it like a night waking) and go out again.

we do treat as night-waking if it's closer to 5 and sometimes she will go back down
but we still have the same eating problem if she sleeps till a reasonable time ... 6.30/7-ish.

perhaps it's time to drop the 1030 feed?

My DS is exactly the same. Also, usually a feed at about 11 and one other, and then no breakfast. The second night feed can be very little sometimes, and even (once or twice) non-existant. Still didn't make a difference in the morning. I think he associates BF with sleep rather than hunger.
I'd love to know the solution, because I'm back to work soon and would like to feed him before I leave in the mornings.

same here with work zacklesmum - I'd like to keep feeding her first thing and last thing for another couple of months with bottles in the day.

she normally wakes for a feed at 10-11 - maybe need to see if can re-settle her then without food. hmmm hmmm.

she is massive - don't know whether that means she needs more food or should be able to cope for longer stretches without - six hours would be good ...

I'm actually not in a hurry to drop the 2 night feeds when I return to work, as he won't take a bottle, so he could get all his milk this way. The thought of trying to get him to sleep without feeding isn't appealing either- he's big and vocal. I sound like a wimp.
It's actually occured to me to offer a 'dreamfeed' breakfast at say 5:30, when I wake up but he's still (usually) asleep. Haven't tried it yet.
