12 months - cow's milk or formula?

I'm going back to work soon... the hours are very long so I'm only going to be able to bf my DD once a day on the two days I work. And I'll be away on a business trip for the best part of a week in September.

Which means there will have to be something else... she eats very well but I'm not sure whether to offer cow's milk or follow-on milk. She's never had formula, so either would be a new experience. I've offered her a bit of milk in a sippy cup and she's pulled that betrayed and horrified face they pull with new stuff

But I wonder - should I go for follow-on milk instead? Or are those adverts with children being fed from dustbin-sized sippy cups getting to me?

If she is eating well, yoghurt/cheese/milk is enough. There is no need for follow-on milk.

cow's milk. why give your hard earned cash to the formula companies for extra stuff in the milk your baby doesn't need at 1?

those ads are misleading - cow's milk is low in iron, but you get iron from other food stuffs, not milk. it's like saying milk is low in vit c or fibre - most people know you get those from fruit and veg etc. iron is in meat, pulses and beans, some dried fruit, green leafy veg.

if you are bf the other days and she really doesn't like milk in a cup then cheese and yoghurt and drink of water will do. i think they need 3 servings of dairy a day at 1? i may be wrong though, but that might be 1 bf, 1 yoghurt and a piece of cheese. someone please correct me if i'm wrong on that.
