Reduction in BF's and weaning

I am currently EBF my 7 month old DS. We are on 5 feeds per day and 3 meals. His feeding goes as follows:
6.30am BF
8am cereal and fruit puree - breakfast
11am BF
12noon protein and veg. - lunch
3pm BF
veg. - tea.
6pm BF
10pm BF

I know I should and could drop the 10pm feed as I'm pretty sure he would sleep through and is heavily asleep when I dream feed him anyway but my concerns are the spacing of the 4 remaining feeds and how my breasts will cope!
At the moment by 6am I am full and usually unable to sleep any longer. He does not empty them completely during this feed so I aften feel uncomfortable until the 11am feed. As he takes more food he is drinking less but there seems to be no reduction in the milk I am producing yet.
I quess my question is if I dropped the dream feed at 10pm how long should it take for my breast to realise and produce less milk during the night. It just seems so long for me to go without feeding I can't imagine how I won't be ready to explode!!

I dont think it will make a huge difference tbh if you drop this feed, might even reduce the production of milk more quickly. My reasoning is that if the night time feed is the one that leads to the production, then stopping the night feed should reduce it.

Having said that, if he's happy to feed and you're happy to feed him then you may as well keep it going for a while. when I stopped evening feed for DS1 he started to wake at 5 for his morning one. As I was generally up anyway at 10pm but wasnt at 5, this didnt really benefit me, but that would be your choice.

I also think that the discomfort reaches a maximum point. My MIL passed away when DS1 was tiny. We knew that she was deteriorating rapidly and the hospital allowed us to stay with her through the night, but helpfully would not allow DS to stay too. I was in agony for a couple of hours but this gradually wore off even though I was still full. It still didnt hurt at 7 the next morning when my lovely sister brought DS to have a huge feed.

So, have probably been no help at all, see what others have to say!

DD is now 8 1/2 months old and her feeds are now as follows.

6:30am - BF
7:30 - Breakfast

12noon - Lunch followed by BF

4:30 - BF
5:30 - Tea

7pm - BF

If I am out with DS and DD don't BF in public anymore as I was finding I impossible to keep her focused on her feed and I was often left with my breast showing to everyone and was feeling too exposed. I now just offer her water when I'm out.

I recently (in last 2 weeks) stopped feeding her in the night and she nows sleeps from 7pm til 6 / half six.

When i used to feed her in the night she would go til about 7 - half 7 she is waking early having not had that night feed so you might find you little one could begin waking in the night or earlier in the morning iyswim.

oh and when i dropped her night feeds it took my breasts about 3 days to adjust and was uncomortable for that time but worth it now as i get a full nights sleep

thanks lovingmy2. I also have trouble BF out and about due to the same reason! M5 Services last week at 7am was not good while DS left me exposed when all around me people eating their breakfast!
