Lactating whilst PREGNANT?

OMG, last night, my right breast starting leaking! A milky fluid! I'm nearly 24 weeks pregnant. Should I see a midwife about this? Is it normal? It's stopped now.

Very normal. I can still squeeze a few drops out now and I haven't breast-fed for four and a half years.

anorak - I am interested in why you know this. Ds stopped feeding 2 weeks ago (after 2.5 years) and I haven't felt the need to see if I still have milk. Maybe it's just me...

I can still squeeze a few drops too, but its only been just under a year that I havent breastfed for. I just tried out of intrigue, also I read somewhere that it is possible that once a women has breastfed, she can feed again without getting pregnant.

I'm sure I read that a woman can breastfeed even if she never has, jenkel; have heard of adoptive mothers using tubes attached to nipple to "breastfeed" adopted baby and the sucking eventually producing lactation...how devoted can you get???

I had this in pregnancy from 30 weeks-ish. Went on to have a stonking supply

LilacLotus · 27/08/2005 09:31

i only had this from about 35 weeks, but it is normal

I had this from early on in my pregnancy with ds1. Used to wake up in the night because the bed sheets were wet.

ive heard of grandmothers lactating in response to their motherless grandchilds crying.

Absolutely normal, wore breast pads from about 28 weeks (although I was probably being just A LITTLE over dramatic )
