Giving formula from a cup - how do you make it up?

DD2 is 11mo and has a bottle morning and evening. I would like to start moving her off the bottles and on to a cup. she drinks cow's milk during the day from a TTcup, and water from a doidy or cup so i hope that once she gets used to it, she'll be fine.

But how do you make up the formula? In a bottle then transfer? She only has about 5-6 oz, so cartons too expensive an option.

I used to make it up in the bottle and transfer it as then you get the correct amount of water.

thanks, seona. i had hoped there would be a quicker way - i just know i'll be tempted to give the the bottle if the bottle is involved, IYSWIM!

We make ours up in a bottle (although we make them in advance, chill them and then keep them in the fridge). When she gets a cup, we just warm the bottle and transfer it. I'm not sure the cup volume measurements are accurate enought for making formula.

How about making up in measuring jug and pouring into cups before putting in fridge?

Could use a jug actually, good idea. i make up the milk as I need it, not keen on having it in the fridge. think you're right about the cups being a not too accurate.
thanks!

"She only has about 5-6 oz, so cartons too expensive an option."

Do you realise that you can put a carton back into the fridge after it's been opened?

It is probably worth you having a look at the instructions on a carton for the brand you are using.

Disclaimer - this is one example only - everyone needs to check their own formula packaging - I have an old bottle of Aptamil toddler milk and on that package it says that it can be stored in the fridge for 72 hours.

It is very important with powdered formula to ensure that you have the correct amount of water so a measuring device is needed (bottle or jug). I don't think that it would be a god idea to just do it in the cup.

Agree with starlight, especially if she's already on cow's milk during the day.

to be honest with you i would just give cows milk too making formula in a beaker is a hassle, gave cows milk to DD2 from 10 months.

She had formula in a beaker before that from 7.5 months and I used to measure the water into the beaker and then put the scoops of formula into that and stir it up with a spoon to get it to dissolve.

thanks folks. I did wonder about giving up the formula but am a bit wary about her iron intake as she is veggie.
tabouleh, i'm pretty sure the cartons we sometimes use can only be kept for 24hrs, but I suppose it could work.

after the past few days, it looks like she's trying to give up milk full stop
