7 months old bf baby sleep regression

dd used to sleep from 9-5 and then after a feed until about 7 or 8.
the last two weeks it was more like feed at 2-4-6-8...
she is breastfed and blw (still tiny quantities of food). during the night she really drinks (boths sides each time she wakes), is not settled with water at all, formula only from dh but that is only possible on weekends.
would it help to get more food into her?
she happily eats a few spoon fulls of my plate each meal but again only tiny quantities so far.

Is she teething? That really messes my LO's sleep about.

At 7mo it's normal to only be eating small amounts.

mousymouse · 27/07/2010 09:24

yes there are little buds on the bottom, so teeth are imminent.
but I want/need to sleep more, I go to bed when she*s in bed.

It could be a growth spurt (mine had one around then).

But as you can see teeth coming, have you tried calpol/teething powder?

How does she feed in the day? Maybe she's distracted so feeds better at night?

mousymouse · 27/07/2010 13:22

she feeds about every two hours, but usually only one side + very little solids and a few zips of water when it is so hot.
might try the calpol tonight...

I mixed blw with spoon feeding. I gave cereal/baby porridge at bed time and that would help a bit.
Its probably a regression that is caused be a developmental spurt and also the teeth coming in. Ride it out she'll improve very soon I'm sure>

sounds like my 7 month old too.
He has gone back to feeding 2 hourly all night.
I think it could be teething plus taking very little solids in the day to.

hungry and teething

Why not try some spoonfuls of rice pudding or greek yoghurt to fill up tummy, might help. Also banana mixed with yoghurt seemed to contain enough calories and protein to make them more settled at night.

The next 6 months are tough sleepwise, they seem to go haywire in the run up to walking.

mousymouse · 29/07/2010 08:26

food does not seem to make a difference, I now give her 4 meals instead of 3, but she only takes a few spoons each time. went to hv yesterday who gave a few suggestions we will try.

might a dummy help?
dd has never had a dummy, might be too late?

Sounds like a bit of a growth spurt if you ask me, I would try some spoon feeding to go with blw, then at least you know you are getting some solids in too. Also second some teething gel/granules whatever as must be most uncomfy being hungry AND with sore teeth and bf is a bit of a comfort.

we had a very good night last night, she (and I) slept until 6 and then until 8.
I feel so awake it*s frightening
were a bit tough on her last night, she wanted to fall asleep on the boob but I put her to bed and stroked and patted her back until she was asleep. did not like it at first but settled down well.
