Toddler Breastfeeding Gymnastics

In the last few days dd2 (20 months) has started some very strange behaviour when breastfeeding.

I sometimes feed her lying on the sofa but the last few times she kept twisting around and trying to walk up the back of the sofa.
She gets really frustrated - I wonder if there is no milk?

Also she co-sleeps and I always feed her on the side she was lying on but lately she wants me to roll over to get the other side - but she doesn't want to move to the other side IYSWIM.

Could this be because my supply has dwindled or maybe she is getting bored?

I would love her to wean - especially at night as I am exhausted. I tried Dr Gordon's method but she started teething again around the same time and was inconsolable and I didn't have the heart to continue.

Could these be signs she is nearing the end?

Thanks

It is massively unlikely that there is no milk. It doesn't work like that. My understanding is that as long as your baby is taking the milk, your breasts will continue to produce it. The more your baby takes, the more you produce. You will eventually stop producing milk but this will be caused by your baby not taking it any more, sending the message that less and less is needed. This is why most mothers can still produce milk a while after their baby has fully weaned, and why stopping abruptly will leave you engorged and uncomfortable.

As to the gymnastics... well, mine does it too. They are getting more physically able all the time and I don't think there is any deep meaning to it. It's just what they do to be annoying.

My own 2yo punctuates every bfing session with "uvver one mum" so I twist and bend and contort to let him have the other side, only to hear "uvver one mum" and a sly grin because he thinks he is clever! He also likes to start a bf lying on his back, and then gradually move around so he is a tripod standing on 2 feet and his head, bfing upside down and cutting off my air supply with his knee or elbow.

Yes, I'd like him to bloody well get on and wean too.

mines only 14 months but the walking up my body while trying to feed has already started. I sometimes wonder at the positions he thinks its ok to feed him. I just straighten him out every few minutes or take him off if he gets too silly
