Feeding "frenzy"

DD is coming up 6 months and seems to be developing a weird little habit with her bedtime feed. She will feed happily for a while, then when she is drowsy she wakes up again and then starts thrashing her legs around (kicking me in the stomach - who knew baby toe nails could be so sharp !), unlatching and turning head then relatching 2 seconds later. Tonight she added stroking her head throughout the feed.
Then she starts making noises to herself while feeding (goodness knows how), seems to whip herself up into a frenzy of gumming my nipple, kicking and head rotating - and then crashes fast asleep

Does this sound normal or have I bred a right little weirdo ?

Forgot to say she will do the relatching thing about 15 times. there is nothing to distract her so she's not looking it anything.

If you have bred a right little wierdo then so have I
One of my dts does this but I put her down now rather than let her latch on off on off because it makes my nipples hurt!
Tonight after I put her down she started bicycling her legs in the air like some crazy exercise routine!

Sounds like she's no longer hungry if she keeps coming off and re-latching, can you put her down at the drowsy stage? At this point I put a muslin next to her head for her to snuggle to, seems to comfort her.

Crazy babies.

DS2 did this last night!

I got fed up and put him in the cot and went downstairs for a few minutes, he was asleep when I got back.

I don't feed my DD to sleep but she thrashes her head around and rubs her head (and ears, and pulls her hair) when she is getting v tired. If at that point I whip her into bed she is normally asleep within about 2 minutes.
I reckon your little weirdo is just tired, like mine.
