Royce bras are awesome, you can get them from bravissimo. If you know your size you can order online.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/07/2010 11:40

Definitely Royce. They are brilliant and really last well.

marriednotdead · 23/07/2010 11:47

Freya Dotty/Emily/Kelly (they're all cut on the same pattern) are the best nursing bras in your size, and are fun- Kelly is animal print . The cup fabric is rigid so they don't let your boobs spread under your armpits. The back is quite generous so a 34 should do it. Try GG but there's an option to go up to HH.
I'm a bra fitter for a bigger cup independent shop and it's the best we've found so far.
The Royce Charlotte and Lauren are comfy but nowhere near as firm shapewise, they come up small in the back too. HTH.

katechristie · 23/07/2010 14:43

I found royce absoultely crap TBH. My vote goes to the Anita underwired ones. There are a couple of different choices on figleaves. altho IIRC they might be a size smaller in the cup.

gingerkirsty · 23/07/2010 15:09

OP I sympathise, and the other issue I have found is that I like a bra with good coverage ie when you unhook the cup, there is a bit underneath that covers the top of your boob. I have a couple of M'care bras that are v pretty but when unhooked you literally have your whole boob out!

@marriednotdead those you suggest look great - can I pick your brains? I am a 34F in Mothercare, a 34G in Debenhams miriam stoppard, and 34GG (altho I think this was a bit wide in the back) in M&S - what size do you reckon in the Freya?

@katechristie I have been dying to get underwired nursing bras! How do these come up size wise?

gingerkirsty · 23/07/2010 15:11

Oh sorry my bolds didn't work for some reason - must have been the @.

Do the Anita ones have the coverage I mention above katechristie ? On figleaves website it seems not.

Thanks!

gingerkirsty · 23/07/2010 16:09

Bumping for boobies!

marriednotdead · 23/07/2010 22:51

Hi gingerkirsty, I am not familiar with most of the bras you mention although the Mothercare ones seem particularly unsupportive when I've seen them on
I'd try 34G in the Freya first, but try to order more than one size if you can't get to a stockists to be fitted properly. Make sure it's got a bit of extra room in the top of the cup if you're trying it on more than an hour before your next feed, and have the band as tight as is comfortable to stop your shoulders doing all the weightlifting
It does have the partial covering when you drop the cup so not too much exposure hopefully.

DomesticDisaster · 24/07/2010 14:29

Hello gingerkirsty

I am also ample bosomed and have tried loads of different ones. Royce, Freya etc. My recent saviour has been with an Anita soft underwired nursing bra which is for after twelve weeks - it's a proper soft underwire for bf as mentioned above. It really is tops for support and shape. It doesn't have the coverage on the top that you want though. I personally have gotten around that by wearing a feeding camisole over the top.

Fibilou · 24/07/2010 21:40

I am a 40FF and find Hotmilk bras really great - pretty and well designed

ticklebug74 · 24/07/2010 22:06

If you are any good with sewing you can buy the bits to transform your regular bra into a nursing bra. I was bigger than any bra i managed to get my hands on (and I spent a small fortune tyring) and spent the whole time uncomfortable and with a mono boob!!! Elomi have a nice looking one in larger sizes but it won't work for me as I am a 30J and they only start I think at 34 or 36.

marriednotdead · 24/07/2010 22:31

Ticklebug, the Elomi one is still worth getting to be honest. Elomi is designed for fleshier women hence the minimum 34 band. It's more generous in the cup than many of the non-wired ones and the support is really impressive, even in the 'wrong' size.
If you scale the sizing back, you could get get a 34H and take the band in.
The difficulty I've found with the transform kits is that they do not fit the width of straps that most bras in a G+ have

gingerkirsty · 25/07/2010 09:09

Thanks marriednotdead and domesticdisaster - great names btw, wish i had been more creative with mine but I didn't realise I ought to when I joined and can't be arsed to name change!

duchesse · 25/07/2010 09:20

I'd suggest Hot Milk- my new nursing bras are lovely!! Got them online from a specialist nursing bra company, followed their fitting instructions and the fit was perfect. Way better than any of my normal bras.

marriednotdead · 25/07/2010 10:32

Duchesse, Hotmilk are fab with the exception of their padded ones which are a crap fit but they only go up to a G in a couple of styles, and an F in most

DDDixon · 25/07/2010 18:09

I estimate I'm about a 32I/J just now and the bra situation is really getting me down, I cannot find ANYTHING to wear. I'm getting by with Hotmilks in a 34G, I've put a tuck in the back and they're ok. Give them a go, the lacier styles are smaller in the cups so go for a less lacy one.
The provision of nursing bras is just crap, I tried the Royce ones on and they were awful, pushed my boobs right out to the sides and virtually flattened them! Seemed huge in the back too.

katechristie · 25/07/2010 21:09

hi gingerkirstie, I've found the anita bras brilliant, much more uplifted this time around - with DS I couldn't find underwired, and have had a slightly more perky look this time with DD! IIRC I think they measure a smaller cup size than the bras I'd normally get on bravissimo tho' when not pg or BF.

MadameStripes · 25/07/2010 21:28

Another vote for Hotmilk bras here.

Gingerkirstie, you're after a bra with an A-frame, I think. Like this? Or this?

marriednotdead · 25/07/2010 22:27

The second one madamestripes has provided links for comes up a fair bit bigger as the fabric is really stretchy but it is last seasons so you may have to hunt for the size you want...

duchesse · 26/07/2010 01:59

This is the shop I got mine from: www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ They sent them out very quickly, and no postage charge. Plus they fitted really well, so get my vote. They do seem to have some large cup sizes (up to 34L, I just checked), and lots different makes.

DDDixon · 26/07/2010 09:44

I can second the above as a good online retailer, they do have limited stock though so you might have to keep checking the site.

gingerkirsty · 26/07/2010 19:37

Aah madamestripes it IS an A-frame I'm after! Who knew it had a name?!?!?! Wow. They do have a 34FF so I am tempted to order a few incl that one, maybe it will come up big enough. Might just do a big order on the credit card and send back what I don't want.

Thanks folks and sorry for hijack fakeblondie I hope the responses to me have been helpful to you too!

gingerkirsty · 26/07/2010 19:53

Anita underwires only seem to go up to an F cup

brockleybelle · 27/07/2010 00:08

I'm a 36G and have very good freya nursing bras.
