Breastfeeding and teeth....HELP!

My 4.5month old DD has just grown 2 bottom teeth in the past week and keeps clamping down with them while she is feeding and pulling her head back while biting, stretching the nipple about 2 inches in the process.....very painful!!
Im sure others will have had experience of this, what did you do and did your baby stop biting? I am dreading the top teeth coming in now and really dont want to start her on formula milk, can anyone help?

I used my very loud voice and said 'NO!' at the first hint of 'the clamp down.' It induced screaming and tears (on her part) then I calmly and quietly explained the situation to her. ANd we started again; after a few days she quit being a little piranha. We're still feeding with a full set now.

I tried the firm NO - worked on dd, but not ds.
On him I tried the 'push face gently into boob' - they have to let go to breathe and feed - that worked for him. Feb dd with a full set and ds has 8 teeth now (at 19 mo - he's a slow teether!)

Obviously that should be fed dd

My 10 mo only have one bottom teeth, and has started doing the clamping with stretching a couple of weeks ago - I have tried the loud NO, which is followed by loads of tears.
Not sure what to try, as it doesn't really work on her! she looks at me from the corner of her eye when she does it, and she is fast!

I could never get the 'pushing them into the boob' thing, I just used to stick my little finger in DD's mouth quick, far less painful than a bitten nipple! It only took her a couple of goes to figure out that if she bit then that meant no milk, still feeding her at 21 months with no biting problems

Yes, keep the little finger ready for the de-latch and watch like a hawk. Saying "No" works for lots of mums, but my DS just used to giggle at me. I resorted to putting him down on the floor and walking away for a couple of seconds (while saying "No biting") - this sounds horrendously cruel, I know, but it worked very quickly. If biting means no milk, they do soon stop!

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have been trying the saying NO and removing the breast, hopefully the message will sink in soon! She doesnt bite at every feed but I am finding that my heart is in my mouth the whole time and I am stopping feeds before she is finished for fear of being bitten. I will persevere however and thanks again for your help.
